Sauna and Cold Immersion

Safety & Etiquette

At A Space 2 Breathe, we want you to fully enjoy the benefits of our sauna and cold plunge while ensuring a safe, relaxing, and respectful environment for everyone. Please review the following safety guidelines and etiquette tips before you visit:

Safety Guidelines

  1. Come prepared: We recommend avoiding caffeine and heavy meals before your session. For your wellbeing and the effectiveness of the experience, alcohol must not be consumed beforehand.

  2. Please note: Jewellery and swimwear with metal fastenings are not recommended, they can become very hot in the sauna and may cause burns. We advise you to remove any jewellery before entering the sauna.

  3. Stay Hydrated:
Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your sessions to prevent dehydration. Water and herbal teas will be available throughout your visit.

  4. Know Your Limits:
Listen to your body. If you feel lightheaded, dizzy, or uncomfortable during the sauna or cold plunge, stop immediately and rest in a cool or warm area as needed.

  5. Time Your Sessions:

    • Sauna: Limit each sauna session to 12–15 minutes or less if you’re new to it. Take breaks to cool down between sessions.

    • Cold Plunge: Spend 30 seconds to 2 minutes in the cold plunge, depending on your comfort level and experience. Avoid prolonged exposure.

  6. Health Considerations:
Sauna and cold plunge therapy may not be suitable for individuals who are pregnant, have heart conditions, high or low blood pressure, or other medical concerns. If you’re unsure, consult your doctor before participating.

  7. Rewarm Gradually:
After each cold plunge, warm up slowly with a robe, towel, or by returning to the sauna to prevent sudden temperature shifts.

  8. Using the Cold Plunge Independently:
If you are using the cold plunge outside of a guided session, please note that you do so at your own risk. Be mindful of your limits and exercise caution to ensure a safe experience.

  9. Extreme Weather: For everyone’s safety, the sauna will be closed during extreme weather conditions such as high winds or storms. In such cases, bookings will be rearranged or a credit note will be offered.

  10. Caution: The sauna chimney becomes extremely hot during use. Under no circumstances should the chimney, stove or stones be touched. A member of staff will operate the wood burner and douse the stones. This is not to be operated or adjusted be anyone else. Thank you for your cooperation.
